Marcus Zusak "The Book Thief"

“The Book Thief” is set in Nazi Germany, at the start of World War II and tells the story of Liesel, a little girl who is taken to a new home because her mother can't afford to take care of her. She never knew her father, her mother disappears after delivering her to her new foster parents, and her younger brother died on the train to place where the foster parents live. On the journey to her new home, Liesel  steals her first book. When her foster father helps her learn to read, Liesel begins stealing books from Nazi book burnings and the mayor’s wife’s library. As she becomes a better reader, she becomes a writer, writing a book about her life in such a miserable time….Reallly wonderful book, it will move you to laughter and tears at the same time.
This book has changed my soul. It’s an amazing book, a beautiful and important book, I will read it again. “The Book Thief” is a powerful book for teens and adults looking for deeply moving read.

New Books

P.G. Wodehouse "Right Ho, Jeeves"

P.G. Wodehouse my favourite humour writer. For those who like humour and especially so called British humour I highly recommend to read his books and this one “Right Ho, Jeeves” as well. As usual the main characters are Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves.
The story begins when Bertie’s friend Gussie Fink-Nottle abandons his beloved newts to go courting as Mephistopheles. Bertie Wooster is more than a bit nonplussed. But even the Devil can rely on Jeeves. After that follows a number of comic situations.

L. Frank Baum "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"

If you are a fairy-tale fan then it is very much recommended to you to read a book by L. Frank Baum The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This bewitching tale of Dorothy’s adventures in the magical Land of Oz is one of the best loved of modern fairy-tales among adults and children alike.
The story begins when a cyclone suddenly propels Dorothy and her dog Toto skywards and brings them in an unknown land. Dorothy hailed as a powerful sorceress by little Munchkins, but her one desire is to return to Kansas, where beloved Aunt Em and Uncle Henry await her. Dorothy’s  quest to seek the ’Great Wizard Oz’ – the only one who can help her – leads her on a perilous journey along the Yellow Brick Road towards the glittering City of Emeralds. On the way she encounters the brainless Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman in search of a heart and the Cowardly Lion, who all join her. At last they reach the castle of Oz – yet in this strange land nothing is ever as it seems …  Enjoy this book!

Herman Melville "Typee"

Recently finished the book by Herman Melville Typee. It was his first book but nevertheless the one that won him his greatest lifetime fame. Typee is no Moby-Dick but it is a classic and not just a children’s classic. It is also an adventure. One reads Typee and life suddenly shows a new vista … adventure is possible: Eden is real!
The book is a narrative of a four-month sojourn among primitive South Sea Islanders. In it Melville combines his own extraordinary personal experiences with later intensive research to produce a vivid and imaginative work. The Polynesian tribal life is shown very vividly in its exotic fascination.
So if you want to share this experience, read Typee!
